Welcome to February!

We have been in school 2 days, so far this month.  The snow storm from this past week, cancelled school for 3 days.  L   However, the days we did attend, were productive.  We have started writing the letter Ff, and recognizing words that begin with the /f/ sound.  We also worked on recognizing words that rhyme, made Valentine fish (from hearts), created “Fingerprint Ff’s” and learned a new song- “Funny Fish.”

We will continue our study of the letter Ff this next week.  The weather is predicted to be SNOWY again, during the upcoming week, so how much new material is covered will depend on whether or not school is cancelled any days.

The plan is to celebrate the 100th Day of School on Wednesday;  introduce the letter Oo and new sight words on Thursday; learn the “Haley Heart” song and continue our Valentine’s activities.  (Hopefully, some new pictures will be posted later this week!!)
The 100th Day of School celebration and the letter Oo introduction, will be adjusted if we cancel school for the weather any this week.  Tomorrow, Monday, February 7th, is the 97th day of school.  We are ALMOST to 100!!!

We will be working tomorrow on decorating our sacks for our Valentines.  If your child would like to bring valentines, please use the class list (that was attached to Friday’s newsletter) to make sure each student receives a valentine.
Thank you to everyone, for working with your child nightly on their homework.  Remember Homework folders are due on Friday, and go home every Monday!

Miss Caley, our student teacher, has started leading some of the activities in the classroom.  She has done an excellent job at Morning Meeting time, and she will continue this week with managing the transitions in the classroom and leading some of the Group Time activities.  It is a privilege to work with such an amazing person, and future educator!
Thank you for taking the time to visit our class blog, to see what all we are doing!
