Our class is "SNOW" special.... :)

Our theme this week was "Snow."   We enjoyed creating art to make our classroom and hallway, look more like the Winter season.

 In home-living, we used snow shovels to scoop up foam snowflakes, while wearing hats, gloves, snow boots and scarves.

The sensory tubs were filled to the brim with (fake) snow....which eventually made it all over the classroom.  :)  It was SO much fun!

Because of the extremely cold weather, we were unable to go outside a couple of days, so we made a Snowman Toss game, and practiced throwing "snowballs."  :)

Other activities this week included: building snowflake letters using spaghetti noodles and mini-marshmallows; playing Snowman tic-tac-toe; patterning with colored snowflakes;
counting marshmallows in the Counting Jar and reading snow/winter stories.

On Friday, we celebrated the end of our "Snow" unit by creating (and eating) "Sweet Snowflakes" for an afternoon snack.

The letter Rr was our letter this week.  We have practiced writing the letter Rr, finding words that make the /r/ sound, and listening to "Rowdy the Rodeo Rat".... our letter "Rr" song.  Each group participated in reading their class readers at the Teacher Table, reviewed our current sight words and worked on counting the syllables in words.

REMEMBER there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 17th.  I will see you on Tuesday!  Next week our theme is: Polar Animals.   Letters of the week will be Dd and Kk, and new sight words are look, see.   Thanks for stopping by our blog!
