We have been working on what it is like to be a 3rd grader! :-) Classroom procedures, routines, and schedules have taken up a large portion of our first few weeks. We have just completed Unit One in our Reading series, have been working with place value and rounding in Math, completed the first series in our OERB curriculum (Oklahoma and oil unit); and have started our Science unit on Sound. We have been SUPER busy!
Just writing our spelling words can get a little boring.... but not when they are written with SCENTED markers! This Spelling activity is called "Smell-It."
Here is a couple of pictures of our experiment with black markers and water. (We were looking at the separation process, like when oil is drilled from the ground and then separated to be used for the production of other products.)
And lastly.... we ALWAYS have time for independent reading! :-)
