This has been a BUSY summer! June was somewhat relaxing, I cleaned out most of my classroom, and worked on re-arranging furniture. I knew I had to get as much done as possible in June, because the month of July was going to be a whirlwind! And I was RIGHT!!
During the month of July, I was home a total of 9 days! Our vacation started 4th of July weekend, with our annual trip to Arlington with the family. (Go Rangers!!) We returned home, for 3 days before driving to Colorado Springs/Denver. After a few days in Colorado, we boarded a plane to Huntington Beach, California! It was the most relaxing week, I have had in a LONG time! Visits to the ocean, L.A., and Legoland were just the beginning of this wonderful trip. :) We returned to Colorado for a few more days (to enjoy the weather), before heading back home to the 105+ degree temperatures.
Once again, we were only home for a couple of days, before we returned to Dallas for the Frog Street Press Summer Splash conference. This was such a motivating experience!! It was my first time to attend, but I assure you it won't be the last! I look forward to next year! The conference was filled with motivating speakers, ideas, and activities that I look forward to using in my classroom this upcoming school year.
I traveled many miles this summer, but regardless of where I was, I was always looking for things to use in my classroom. I managed to shop for my classroom in almost every place we visited, and I can't wait to use all the great stuff this year! We've been home a few days, and guess where I have spent 6-10 hours a day?..... Yes. My classroom. :)
I have continued the cleaning and organizing process, and have started the new decorations for the 2011-2012 school year. I will try and post pictures as soon as I can!
Over the next few days, I will be attending training for the newly adopted Math curriculum, and look forward to implementing it (as well as all the ideas from Splash) into my daily classroom routine. This is the time of the year, that keeps me busy... and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!
I look forward to meeting my new Kindergarten Kiddos within the few weeks! :)
